Dolce Basking Ridge - Here We Come!!!

I'm getting ready to go to the Dolce for our scrapbooking weekend!  I've been packing all afternoon.  I have a TON of stuff to bring - look at it all!  I hope I can fit it all in one car load! (Judging by these photos - it's going to be close!!)

Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper Card

One of the designer papers we are giving away in our goodie bags for the upcoming Fall Crop Weekend is Frostwood Lodge.  Many people have commented to them that they get such great stuff in their goodie bags, but sometimes they don't know what to do with it, so this time we have created LOTS of samples for display and here is one of mine.  (I actually went a little overboard with my samples, so I'll have more to show soon!!)

I just took small 1/2" strips of the DSP and alternated the sides of the paper and wove them together.  It was a little tricky to get them to stay, but if you put just a little adhesive on the ends of each strip, they will stay.

In less than 24 hours I will be at the Dolce Basking Ridge getting everything set up for our crop!  I am so excited that we are SOLD OUT again!  There are a great bunch of people who are joining us this time, and I think it's going to be a wonderful weekend!  We have some fun classes planned, a few surprises for everyone, lots of space, and way too much food!  If you have never been to one of our crop weekends, but you are in or close to New Jersey, you really should check us out!

Because of the next 2 days being extra chaotic, I crammed a lot of running in over the last few days.  Actually I have run over 28 miles since last Friday!!  Crazy, right??  And not the easiest of runs either!  We ran 8 moderate miles Friday, I did 3 miles of hills Saturday,and we ran 6.2 hilly & speedy miles (average 8:51/mile pace) on Sunday. (It was the first loop of the half-marathon that I ran back in May - not a good race!!  That was when my anemia was rearing its ugly head.) Then Monday I actually took a day off, but yesterday we ran another really hilly 8 miles (9:20/mile pace).  So today, we settled for a SLOW and easy 3 miles of flatness!  We still ran at a 9:01 pace, but at least we cut back on some of the distance.  Next week I think we'll be back to our early morning runs, and things will hopefully settle back into a more normal schedule.

The Difference Between Digital and Traditional Scrapbooking at a Crop

One of the most noticeable differences between digital & traditional scrapbooking at a crop is the amount of stuff you need to tote along with you!

Here is Carol at her cropping space.  With her laptop and a cup holder - and that's pretty much all she needed.

And here is my area.  Notice we have the cup holders in common, and that's pretty much it!! 

Now of course, I did also bring stuff for our marketplace and common things to share - Big Shot, dies, punches, Cricut, and cartirdges, but it takes me more than two FULL cart loads to get it all back & forth.  And we don't need to talk about how much of it I really needed or used - that's all irrelevant!!!  But I did have a pang of jealousy when Carol threw her laptop in her bag, and took her purse and her overnight bag and was ready to "load up" her car!!!  :)

But all-in-all it was a productive weekend for me.  I got 6 pages done - three 2-page layouts and I also got some work stuff done - if you look at my events calendar it is updated with all kinds of classes & events through December and I also worked on another project that I think those of you who order from me on-line will really like!!  More details on that soon!!!

One Sketch: 3 Ways - A Scrapbooking Class

Jessica and I taught a scrapbooking class today at the Summer Crop Weekend at the Dolce Basking Ridge.  We had a sketch that we started with and Jess created a layout that exactly followed the sketch.  Then she created a second one that flipped the sketch 90 degrees and then she did a third one that was based on the sketch but interpreted less literally (if that makes sense.

Here was the original layout (sorry it's blurry - I have no idea what happened.  I took two shots and this was the better of the two.)

Here was a layout with the sketch turned 90 degrees.

And here is the final sketch that is the loose interpretation of the original sketch.

Of course this would probably help if I had the sketch, but I don't have a copy of it. :(  Hopefully you can get the idea from the layouts.

Here are a few shots from the class.  Oh, and I can tell you a secret!!!  We videotaped the class, so sometime in the future (don't hold your breath - it may be way in the future), you might just be able to be right in the "classroom" with us.  I'll give you more details when they are available.

Dolce Basking Ridge - Here We Come!!!

I've spent most of the day organizing and packing for our Summer Crop Weekend.  For the first time ever at the Dolce, we were not able to get a room to crop in on Friday, so I feel kind of lost today.  I was hoping to head over there earlier, but my dear husband's job had other plans!!!  (He went from working at home, giving me lots of flexibility to having to go into the city AND probably stay late!!  UGH!!!!)  But anyway, I used the time to go through a lot of my stuff and organize it a little better - not that I packed any LESS, though!!!  LOL!

Here is a shot of what I still have to get in the car (and my lovely assistant who insisted on being in the photo).  Already packed & in the car is all my paper, (2 totes worth), all my punches, and all my Big Shot Dies.  I still haven't packed my clothes (always least important) or my computer.  I have to pack as much as I can but still leave room for my two cherubs so I can drop them off when I have to go.  (Thank you awesome friend Theresa - it takes a village, sista!!!)  Then, I'll have to come back home and finish loading up whatever didn't fit.  AND THEN...  I am off to the Dolce!!  Ahhhhh!!!!

I'm going to pack my running clothes, but I may not do any running this weekend.  If I am up late tonight I am going to bag it I think.  If I do anything, it might be a 4 mile run just to get my weekly miles up over 20.  I think now I am at about 19, so it won't take much to get me up & over the mark of 20.  We'll see!!!

I suppose I should get back to packing and I can shut down my computer once I finish this post too!!!  See you tomorrow!

Scrapbooking at the Dolce

I'm writing to you from the Spring Crop Weekend!!  We have a small group this time (which is typical for May), but the weather looks questionable, so it's a great weekend to spend indoors scrapbooking!!

We are offering two great goodie bags this time and we have created some awesome samples to inspire our guests.  The first goodie bag features the Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper.  Here is part of our display.
