Today I hope to just sit around and watch some football - J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!  And I am a Giants fan, but I can easily root for the Jets.  It's not at all like the baseball rivalry here in New York.  As a Mets fan, I just can't EVER root for the Yankees.

So anyway, I thought today I would go back in time a few weeks and share a few more pictures from Leadership.

I mentioned a couple days ago that I won a prize so here is a (very bad) picture of me right after I won.  What's up with that crazy scary smile??

Then here are two more of the displays - the Love Bots Valentines.  These are so cute and the Occasions Mini totally does not do them justice, but if you check out these photos, you'll get a better idea of how cute they are.  Each one is not just a Valentine, but a little box that you can fit a treat in!!!

 

Finally, Shelli gave us all a big surprise at the end; we all received a new stamp set that will be in the Summer Mini catalog.  It's called Elements of Style and here is a sample.  It is really pretty and I can't wait to play with it!!

Phoenix Photos

Here is one group photo from Leadership.  These are just a few of my sidelines who were there.

We got a bunch of surprises at the Closing Ceremony, including some new free stamps and a quilt square made with the Big Shot.  I still have to take pictures of these, but I'll try to do that when I get back to New Jersey.

These are all high school friends - it's me, Scott, Becky, Thomas, and Craig.  Becky & Scott are from the LA area, but isn't it funny how so many of my New Jersey friends ended up on the west coast??

Manager's Reception: Leadership 2010

They didn't give us much info on what was going to happen at the Manager's Reception this year, so I didn't know if I was should be excited or not.

So we all piled on buses and were taken to a ranch where there was a Mariachi band playing traditional Mexican music.  There were chips & fresh salsa to munch on while we waited for everyone to arrive, and after about a half-hour we were sent into an arena where we watched a couple different events.  First up was bull-riding (and the bulls had names like Big Shot, Dusty Durango, and Soft Suede, hmmm...).  Then we saw some Mexican rodeo and there was a horse who did something that I can't remember (it was some kind of fancy footwork stuff), then we saw a family who showed us all kinds of lasso tricks (and there was an adorable little girl who had to be maybe 8 or so).  

Then there was a terrible accident.  A guy tried to complete this stunt called the "pass of death" (or something like that) where he was supposed to go from one bareback horse to another bareback horse, while they are moving.  Well, the stunt didn't go quite as planned.  The guy fell off the horse and slammed into the side of the arena and broke his leg.  I won't go into detail, but he really broke his leg.  It was horrible, and it stopped the show.

If the show had gone on, there was supposed to be an audience participation portion at the end, where I had already been selected to do something (of which they would not say), but I did find out later that I would have been in a goat milking contest.  How funny would that have been???

Even though I felt very sick to my stomach, there was a dinner that they served us which ended up being delicious.  I wasn't able to get a great shot of the room where we ate, but here is a bad shot of it. :)  And here is a close up of the present that was waiting for me at my seat (inside was the Love Bandit stamp set).

 

But anyway, hope you enjoyed taking a trip to the Manager's Reception with me!!  Too bad there are no pictures of me milking a goat - THAT would have been one for the scrapbooks FOR SURE!!!

Leadership and a Long, Lost Friend! :)

Today was the first "real" day of Leadership Convention 2010.  It was filled with fun, friends, and information and I am SO excited to be here!!!  I tried to take some pictures throughout the day so those of you who aren't here can get a sense of how great things are!  This picture above is part of the main stage.

And this is Michelle winning a stamp set from the Prize Patrol!!

Here is one of the windows in Memento Mall - and yes those are reusable canvas bags.  I bought a few because I actually really need to start using them at home!!

This is me and my long, lost friend Nick.  Nick & I went to college together and spent tons of time together on Travers 9 back in 1990 & 1991.  He moved out here to Phoenix (I think) 9 years ago and I haven't seen him in probably 12 or 13 years.  But thanks to Facebook, I got back in touch with him and told him I was coming to Phoenix.  We got together last night for dinner and I got to meet Nick's wife, Jess, who was awesome.  We had so much fun and laughed so much and I probably drank a little too much wine - but hey, we had a lot of catching up to do!!!  Oh, and hi Nick!!  I know you'll eventually read this!!!  :)
