Easter Dinner Table Decorations

I have to say, my kids did some excellent work on the Easter Dinner table this year.  They did EVERYTHING that was craft related.  Pretty impressive for a couple kids still in the single digits!!  A big thanks to Emily & Erin for a job well done!!  (I think they even inspired a few of my Divas who were here on Saturday!)

First, these bunnies became placecards and napkin rings.

And next, the Stampin' Up! Cone Die became carrots filled with candy for all the kids!

Notice that they even added texture with the Texturz Plates (Texture Kit #4).

As for the work, they really did it ALL!  The only thing I did was cut the Tangerine Tango cardstock down so that it would fit through the Big Shot  and showed them once how to put it through and then add the texture.  Then I went upstairs to take a shower and when I came back, they were done - Sticky Strip and everything!  I helped create a template so the holes would get punched in the same spot on each "carrot" and then Emily took right over and did the rest.  Not bad for an 8 year-old, huh???

I guess now we have big shoes to fill for next year.  If you have any good ideas, send them my way!  Thankfully I have a year to work on it!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Friends!!  Here is a card we made at last month's club and I was saving it just for TODAY!  It uses the Lucky Shamrock "a la carte" stamp from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The Certainly Celery background was run through the Texturz Plates (Backgrounds I) with the diamond pattern, but I think you might have to tip your computer screen to see it; it's a little subtle!! :)

I was listening to the radio yesterday and I heard a few funny Irish names, so I thought I'd pass them along so you can have a little chuckle.  The first one is Robin O'Cradle - oh, come on!!  It's funny!!!  Okay, and the second is Liam O'Lone.  Hehehehe.  These are the things that amuse me over the course of my day.  (When I am not talking to my "boyfriends" - the skateboarder and snowboarder stamps or my punched out owls or stamped monsters.)  Tell me that you don't do something like that to get you through your day.  :)

One Last Dasher Card

I can't help it - he's too cute to put away yet.  I still have my decorations up, so I think we can all enjoy just one more sample of this hard-working reindeer!!  After all, he did visit my house to bring my kids lots of great things this past Christmas.  It's the least I can do to thank him!!

I know this card is super simple, but don't you think simple is good when you have to get all the way around the world in 24 hours??? 

You do have to look close to see where the detail is in the card, but it has the embossed frame around the stamped image.  (See this post for another sample that's a little better to see.)  I guess the lighting wasn't as good as I thought it was when I took the picture.  (Usually I take my pictures outside, but when there is snow everywhere it makes it a little more difficult!!)

I think this weekend we'll take down our decorations, so maybe I'll sneak in one more Christmas sample before we do. I know -  I'll share the card my parents made this year - it was quite adorable, I have to say.  And those of you who are regular readers know it's really my dad who does a lot of the card making since my mom is baking, shopping, and wrapping up a storm!!!  Check back for that later this week!!!

Your Friday Morning Halloween Card Video

Doesn't have the same ring to it as Friday Night Videos, huh?  Plus mine don't have cool music.  I can change that.  And I just might - you'll have to keep watching the videos to see if they get cooler.

Little Girl Party Favors

Our party favors for Saturday's pool party was a home-made headband using the Big Shot.  We made 18 of them - one for each girl who came, and one for each of my girls.  Here are a couple pictures.

Faux Metal Tin Ceiling

Here is a cool background technique that I learned from my friend Diana Gibbs.  We made this card at last month's Technique Tuesday Class.  Diana calls it "Faux Metal Tin Ceiling", and it really looks like it!!!  It uses embossing and the textured impressions folder.

I used a few retiring colors - Blush Blossom and Going Gray.  And the stamp set, Vintage Vogue which was in the Occasions Mini Catalog, is still available!!  In fact there are LOTS of items that have been carried over from the Occasions and Holiday Mini Catalogs.  I'll post the list below.

If you are a technique junkie, I am going to be teaching a "Technique Time" class at our Spring Scrapbooking Weekend this Saturday at 10:00AM.  It's all about techniques.  I'll be teaching six techniques, and each attendee will create a sample of all 6 that will be mounted on a top note die and all of them will go on a book ring for future reference.  Directions will also be included.  If you want to learn a few new techniques, you can join us at the class.  I have three spots left.  Just email me and let me know you'd like to join us.

On another note, are you a Dancing with the Stars fan?  I have become one, thanks to my (8 year old) daughter, who watches it faithfully and has for the last few seasons.  So my favorite this season is Erin and Maks, although I really think Nicole & Derek should win.  Hopefully Erin & Maks can make it to the end, though!!!  My pick for the three teams to make it to the end are Nicole & Derek, Erin & Maks, and Evan & Anna.  I should have posted my picks earlier this season because I have thought that since the beginning.

Custom Gift Bag with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit

Here is a project we created at my last Technique Tuesday Class.  It's a gift bag made from a lunch bag and a single sheet of 8.5 x 11 cardstock.  It also uses the Medallion background stamp and the Big Shot with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.  The Embosslit is in the Occasions Mini Catalog which ends today, but it will still be available after today.  The item code is 118138 and you can order it in my Online Store.

To create the bag, cut your 8.5 x 11 cardstock in half, so you have two pieces of 5.5 x 8.5.  The handles are made by using your 1-1/4" circle & square punches.  Decorate the front of your bag and adhere them to a lunch bag.  (Trim about 4" off the top of the lunch bag.)

Pillow Gifts

I thought I would try to get back on track now that I don't have the excuse of any big weekends coming up.  Thank you again for hanging in there with me - it was a rough two weeks, but I think I am on the road to recovery!  Today was honestly the first day I have felt normal.  I didn't realize how much these weekends take out of me.  But anyway...

As we usually do, we created pillow gifts for each of the guests who stay over at the hotel each night.  They actually don't go on people's pillows, we just announce that they are there and our guests can pick them up on the way to bed.  The best part is that they all include a door prize ticket!!

The first night, Friday, everyone got a little cello bag of jellybeans with the Top Note Die as the topper.  I used the Define Your Life stamp set to add different definitions appropriate to scrapbooking to each topper and decorated them with punched out flowers that matched the jellybeans.  (With 60 colors to choose from, OF COURSE they should match!!)  Here is a close up of one of the Top Notes.

 On Saturday night, we gave away lollipops.  I decided to make mine match the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper.  (Everyone got half a pack of that - among other stuff - in their goodie bags!!)  These were pretty easy to put together - just a diecut and a few punches!!

Both of these projects would make great projects for kids and/or great party favors for any spring party or even the Easter table! I tied a little ribbon under the flower so the cardstock didn't slide down the lollipop stick.

More Kids' Projects

Here are the second week of kids' projects from our Kids' Stamping Class.  This first project, a flower lollipop, actually has very little stamping, but it didn't seem to bother the kids!!  I I introduced them to the Big Shot and they LOVED it!!!  In this sample, they die cut flowers out of felt.

In the card this week, we used the Big Shot again, but this time with the embossing folder.  It was a pretty simple card, and it had snowed earlier in the day, so the theme was perfect!!!

These are actually Emily's samples this time around!!  Be sure to come back next week to see what we'll do this week. (I still don't know what we'll do yet.  Yes, I know the class is tomorrow, but I'll figure it out!!!)
