Is It Too Early to Start Planning for Christmas???

Well, what does everyone think?  I mean, it only is September, but the air is already getting cooler, pools are closing up, the leaves are already turning, and fall is technically a week away.  You KNOW how fast time starts to go once we hit Halloween, right?  So, is it too early???

I don't think so.

To get ready, I did a little holiday stamping last night when I had some downline over just for some fun stamping!  This sample is NOT one that will be featured in my 12 Weeks of Christmas (I have to keep that one under wraps for a little bit longer!!), but it's similar to some of the projects you will see.  You can also see some sneak peeks of some of the things that have been shared in the past years by clicking here and here.

What do you think of this cute little sample?  This is also a sneak peek, but I think it's okay to share this one.  It's one of the display items I designed for our upcoming Fall Crop Weekend.  It uses the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper (which was the paper I had thought I lost in the hurricane, but I was actually able to salvage some of it!) and the Christmas Lodge stamp set.  It's the side step card design, but I didn't follow the dimensions listed on Splitcoast, since I wanted to fit the tree and house stamps.  My card is cut at 2.25, leaving a 3.25 area on the right (where the steps are).  Here is a side view, so you can see what is going on a little bit more.

I also used the new Dazzling Details around the edge of the snow on the roof of the house, but it's a little hard to see it.  (You can see it better in the first photo.)  I am going to be using that stuff A LOT!!!  It's a great embellishment!!!

Hope you enjoyed today's Christmas sample!!  I ran this morning in shirts & a tank top (and then I got rained on), so it is weird to think about snowy weather again, but soon... soon...

Time is Running Out!!

One of my favorite events of the whole year is our Fall Crop Weekend!  I love all the crop weekends, but the Fall & Winter ones are my favorites.  It's so much easier to spend the weekends inside when the weather outside is cooler.  (For me anyway.)

Another 10 Card Class Sample: Thoughts & Prayers

One of the cards we made at my last 10 card class was a Sympathy Card.  I sorta hate making them, and I sorta hate "making" people make them, but it's one of those things that you're always glad to have when you need one.  But this time around for this class, where the cards were all occasion and ranged from birthday to sympathy to thank you, I let people use alternate greetings on all the cards, so a few of these ended up being Best Wishes cards and some were birthday, so I kind of like that plan, and will absolutely offer it next time!!!

For sympathy cards, I always reach to the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  In this sample, we colored the stamp itself with markers, which is how you achieve a two-toned look all on one stamp.  The best part is, you only have to stamp once to get that look, although the coloring sometimes does take a little time.  It's always worth the end result though!!!

I'm planning another 10 Card Class, but this time it will be all holiday cards.  It will probably end up being a variety of Christmas and winter cards, and of course, the greetings will be optional and interchangeable!!  If you'd like to save the date, save Wednesday, November 3.  I will most likely offer an afternoon class and an evening class.

How Many Cards Do You Send Out??

Have you started thinking about Christmas yet??  I know, it's crazy, but many of my crafting friends are already on the bandwagon thinking early about the upcoming winter holidays!!  So, I ask you - HOW MANY CARDS DO YOU SEND OUT?  Please leave me a comment and let me know and I'll compile the results and let you know what the verdict is!!

If you are looking to stamp your own cards this year, here is really great example that's simple enough to reproduce in large quantities.  It uses the A Wish for Peace stamp set.  My mom & dad made a similar card to this one a few years ago, and that was my inspiration for this.  (Yes, my dad will help my mom hand-stamp their Christmas cards.  Is that not adorable??)

A Card Blast from the Past

Here's an oldie, but goodie!!  This card is circa 2008, but still has several elements that are still current (Batty for You stamp set, all the colors, and all the punches).  It's a quick & easy card, and is perfect for next month's big Halloween holiday!!

12 Weeks of Christmas - Are YOU on the List?

All my newsletter subscribers have been getting lots of great holiday ideas for the last few weeks.  I thought I would share this week's project, as it works perfectly with the Black Friday craziness!!

How many people on your list want or could use an iTunes gift card?  If you have a few, here is a cute way to "give" your gift card, so your gift will stand out.

 

Here is the supply list and some tips:

Pink Passion cardstock - 4-3/4" x 4-1/2"
Whisper White cardstock - scraps to punch
Silver cardstock - scraps to punch
Dental Floss
Basic Black Marker
Friends Rock stamp set
Basic Black Classic Ink
1-3/4" Circle Punch
3/4"  Circle Punch
1/2" Circle Punch
Key Tag Punch

• Punch the following out of white cardstock: (1) 1-3/4", (4) 3/4", (1) Key Tag
• Punch out the following out of silver cardstock: (2) 1/2", (1) 3/4"
  
• Score Pink Passion at 1" on the 4-1/2" side and in half along the 4-3/4" side.  (Gift card size will be 3-1/2" x 4-3/8")
• Attach punches to card as per picture above.
• Draw in buttons with black marker.
• Punch a small hole at the bottom of the gift card & thread the dental floss through.  Sandwich the ends of the dental floss between (2) 3/4" white circles.
• Stamp "You Rock" on the inside.
• Give your gift of music!!  :)

Additional Hints: Use different colored cardstock for different colored iPods. Feel free to make one and send it to me with an iTunes gift card for the holidays!! I have lots of songs on my wish list. :)
